The world is at my fingertips! |
Blogs for me are just an expression of self. I'm easily distracted, random, and emotional... so my blogs are sporadic, hysterical, and funny (well, i think they're funny). Sometimes i need to motivate myself, other times to release stress, and there are times that i need to release my crafty goodness! This is just me. =) |
So I learned in Marriage and Family about love and relationships. I remember being shocked how arranged marriages were more successful and happy than ‘by-choice’ marriages. These persons weren’t suppressed, or sad, they were happy. Some even sought out getting arranged by a spiritual guider or by family members. They said how they learned to love each other and friendship continuously grew.
In western culture we expect a fairy tale. We expect butterflies, happily ever after, magic sparks. And in all honesty that stuff dies if you don’t work hard to keep it alive. Constant compromise, acceptance, and work is what keeps the magic. Those things don’t happen on their own.
I was fascinated by how any relationship could work as long as both parties were willing to put in the effort. A friend of mine said a few days ago “love is a choice.” And she’s right. You still love that person and enjoy them, just you make a life long choice on whether or not you want to be with them. If you were constantly looking for butterfly’s then you’d continuously divorce and remarry (ie. All of america).
It may not be a choice on who you fall in love with, but its a choice who you keep loving. =)
Just feeling a bit ranty today =]
